Project 6: Surrealism Final Picture

For the past week, we have been working on surrealism. We posted about the history of surrealism and talked about some of the pioneers in surrealist art. We finished by creating our own surrealist style images. In my image, I used six different images and using Photoshop edited them all together to create the final product.

Project 6: Surrealism

Surrealism was a mass cultural movement that began in the 1920s. Surrealist art is known for unsettling and illogical qualities. It is often described as a mixture of dreams and reality. The surrealist movement was based in Paris and gradually spread around the world affecting things such as theatre, visual arts, film, literature, as well as philosophy and social thought and practice. Below are some examples of surrealist art by three renowned artists.

Project 3: Color and Grids

For this project, Colors and Grids, we were supposed to take pictures of colorful things and edit them so the color of the photo sets the mood. We were supposed to put our colorful photos into grids that we created using Adobe Lightroom and make a visually appealing grid or collage.

Project 3 Pre-work: Color

This is a color wheel. The primary colors are red, yellow and blue. The secondary colors are purple, orange, and green.

This photo was taken by Tsamakdas Gio. The photographer used the color blue to create a feeling of solitude and peacefulness. He might have used editing to make the entire photo various shades of blue and purple, and also t highlight the beam of light. 

Project 2: Framing and Composition

          For the Framing and Composition project, we were supposed to take pictures of 8 different composition and framing techniques. The eight techniques are : Bug's Eye View, Leading Lines, Birds Eye View, Diagonals, Rule of Thirds, Fill the Frame, Close Up, and Frame Within a Frame. I took around 150 photos in all, and I have narrowed it down to what I think are my eight best. I edited these photos with Adobe Lightroom 3.
